Welcome

New to First Baptist?

Dear newcomers,

We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our church family! Here at FBC there are plenty of ways to get involved. We encourage you to join us for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.  Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. Youth Group for grades 6-12, Children's Ministry ages 4-11, nursery available for ages birth to 3 years during both Bible study and worship time.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, children ages 4-11 stay in worship for "Parenting in the Pew", based on the book, Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship.

On fifth Sundays we have a Church-wide fellowship with either a breakfast or coffee and donuts, in place of Bible Study in our Wayland Fellowship Hall. Please join us!

We would love for you to fill out a visitor card located in the back of pew in front of you, and bring it to the Sanctuary entrance at the end of service and receive a gift which includes information about upcoming events.

Blessings,

Children's Ministry

Jamie Higginbotham photo

Here at First Baptist, our Children's Ministry is "First Kids!" The children attend Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays, and during worship, Ms. Jamie has a Children's Message, then the kids are dismissed to Children's Church. On the 4th Sunday of the month, children remain in the Sanctuary for "Parenting in the Pew", you can learn more about this program by reading the book "Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship," by Robbie Castleman. First Kids meet on Sunday evenings from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Pick up and Drop off is at the Portico entrance.

Time travel is such an exciting concept to imagine! If we could hop into a time machine and visit the past, we might be surprised by how much has changed—and how some things stay exactly the same. One thing we’d discover is that God’s love and faithfulness are timeless. In this 5-week series, kids will explore how God's messages to us never change, no matter the time or place. They’ll learn that God’s love is timeless, we can seek God any time, God is good all the time, God takes the time to forgive, and God is with us at all times. BIG IDEAS & BIBLE STORIES God’s love is timeless. (Hosea the Prophet: Hosea 11:1–11; Hebrews 10:19–25) We can seek God any time. (Isaiah the Prophet: Isaiah 1:1, 10–20; Hebrews 11:1–3, 6) God is good all the time. (Micah the Prophet: Micah 6:1–8; Hebrews 12:1–3) God takes the time to forgive. (Jeremiah the Prophet: Jeremiah 18:1–10; Hebrews 12:18–29) God is with us at all times. (Ezekiel the Prophet: Ezekiel 37:1–14; Hebrews 13:6–8)

Children's Sunday 2026 is sure to entertain and inspire our congregation and guests. Our First Kids Stage Company and Camp has created an incredible theatrical performance showcasing how everyday life comes with challenges; however, when we follow Jesus and trust in God, we are able to face those challenges with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Please join us and show your support on Sunday, August 16th in the Wayland Hall during worship for "Not Today, Gerald, Not Today," a production performed and crafted by our incredible First Kids. Come and meet our main characters Steve, who seems to be down on his luck, and Gerald, who enjoys generating Steve's misfortune. You will see who God puts in Steve's path to show him the Fruits of the Spirit and introduces him to this "cool dude" named Jesus.

A new school year brings excitement and new opportunities. Many of our youth are participating in fall sports, and practices are already underway. Fall sports schedules will be posted on the hallway bulletin board, so please take a look and make plans to attend a game or event. Your presence and encouragement can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth. Ministry doesn't just happen inside the walls of the church—some of our greatest opportunities for ministry take place beyond them, as we support and invest in the lives of our youth and others.

Blessing of the Backpacks will happen as we prepare for a new school year beginning on Monday, August 24.  On Sunday, August 23 all children, youth and school staff are encouraged to bring their backpacks to worship for a special Back to School Blessing.  Church families begin praying now for all the students and staff for a meaningful school year full of learning and relationships.

Finally, in August the final summer activities will happen for our youth.  Friday, August 7 at 6:00 p.m. our youth will gather for supper and an activity.  On Sunday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. our youth will gather at FBCNW for a final Lake Day including boat rides and tubing.

Wednesday, August 19 our youth will go canoeing and to Vespers at the Summit together.  The final activity before school will be Sunday, August 23 with supper and Back to School activity together.

Thank you for supporting and encouraging our youth throughout the year. Your prayers, kind words, and presence at their sporting events and activities will remind them that their church family is cheering them on.

I am so appreciative of our wonderful church family.

Patricia
