Current Covid Protocols
Our Current Covid Policy
Anyone who desires to worship in person at First Baptist Church, and feels safe and comfortable doing so, is welcome to attend on Sunday mornings as long he/she is willing to maintain the following Covid protocols:
* Wear a facemask covering the nose and mouth for the entirety of time spent inside the building.
* Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from all people not in your immediate family.
* Remain at home if you have a runny nose, headache, cough, fever, or congestion.
Our sanctuary is large enough for all who want to worship in person to gather safely as long as we honor these protocols and refrain from congregational and choral singing. Please come if you are so led.
The Executive Committee continues to monitor the Covid numbers locally, and we will reopen all church programs and events as soon as it is safe to do so.
Indoor Children’s Church & Indoor Baby Nursery are now open
Children's Church begins at 11 a.m. in the Wayland Fellowship Hall. Drop off your children (potty-trained ages 3 and up) as early as 10:50 a.m. We will teach and show the Love of Jesus to your little ones.
Although the Wayland Hall has very high ceilings and good circulation, we do require that children wear masks while indoors.
The Church Nursery is located in the Children's Building (to the left as you enter through the Portico doors), downstairs, first room on your right. Drop off time for infants is Sunday from 10:50 to 11:15 a.m.
Our Youth have begun meeting again on Sunday Nights from 4:30-6:30. Anyone wishing to provide a snack supper for our Youth, please contact Mickey Leapley at (336) 830-6791.
The next Book Club meeting will be on December 16 at 1:00 p.m.
The 7th Annual Community Moravian Lovefeast will be on Sunday, December 12 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Childcare will be provided. We ask you to enter through the Portico and masks are required. The service will be a little bit different this year, due to Covid. We will not have congregational singing, but there will be a brass ensemble, soloists and duets that will offer the songs of the season. We will remove masks to eat the traditional Lovefest served by Dieners. We will also conclude our service with the
passing of candlelight through the Sanctuary.
Please sign up so we can know how many to expect. Click here>>>
Christmas Eve Services
This year on Christmas Eve, our church will offer two opportunities to worship through taking Communion. The services will differ in the following ways:
· 5:00-6:00pm-Christmas Eve Family Communion Service
Individuals and Families are invited to find a seat in the sanctuary to enjoy the beautiful recorded music that will be playing. When ready, families or individuals are invited to come take a seat at the front of the sanctuary where Dr. Young will have chairs set up. He will then serve you or your family Communion. After partaking of the Lord's Supper, you may either exit the sanctuary or return to your seats for a time of meditation.
· 11:00pm-12:00am-Traditional Christmas Eve Communion Service
This service will be more like a worship service. There will be scripture read, prayers offered, songs sung, candles lit, and Communion served to the entire congregation at the same time. Please attend the service that best fits the desires and needs of your family! We'll see you on Christmas Eve!
Count Your Blessings Service with Communion
On Wednesday, November 24, we will gather in the sanctuary at 6:30 pm for our Thanksgiving Count Your Blessings Service. Though we will NOT have a meal in the Wayland Hall beforehand, we will feast together on our gratitude and praise. For those who are new to this service, we will have a microphone set up down front, and all who wish to share aloud the things for which they are thankful may come forward and do so.
Once all who wish to speak have done so, we will offer communion to all who wish to come forward to receive it. I urge all members to attend this service of worship whether you speak publicly or not. Giving thanks to God is a spiritual discipline of which we could all practice more often.
We will observe social distancing, wear masks, and both the bread and the juice will be in cups
