Welcome

New to First Baptist?

Dear newcomers,

We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our church family! Here at FBC there are plenty of ways to get involved. We encourage you to join us for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.  Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. Youth Group for grades 6-12, Children's Ministry ages 4-11, nursery available for ages birth to 3 years during both Bible study and worship time.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, children ages 4-11 stay in worship for "Parenting in the Pew", based on the book, Parenting in the Pew: Guiding Your Children into the Joy of Worship.

On the fifth Sunday of the month we have a Church-wide fellowship breakfast in place of Bible Study in our Wayland Fellowship Hall. Please join us!

We would love for you to fill out a visitor card located in the back of pew in front of you, and bring it to the Sanctuary entrance at the end of service and receive a gift which includes information about upcoming events.

Blessings,

First Baptist Staff

Mark Your Calendar and Make Plans to Attend The Count Your Blessings Service Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday, November 27) at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary If you have never attended this service, it is an intimate gathering that centers around the serving of Communion and the opportunity for everyone who so desires to share with the congregation the things for which he or she is thankful. Speaking is voluntary, and whether you choose to speak your blessings aloud or simply to name them in your own heart, it is a wonderful way to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Thanksgiving. We will also share a Fellowship Meal of Homemade Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches in the Wayland Hall at 5:30pm. There is no charge for the meal, but we will accept donations. Please make reservations by Monday, November 24 for the meal.

Little Free Pantry

Our Deacons In-House Missions Team has created a sign up link so that we can keep our Little Free Pantry stocked each week.  It is clear that this important ministry is being utilized by the community, and we want to be sure there is food available if someone should have a need. You may sign up using this link. Thank you, church family, for your care and compassion.  There is a link at the top of this page, or click here: https://volunteersignup.org/XK7JT

Superheroes aren't heroic only when they feel like it— they're brave each and every day. The best heroes can even inspire the people around them to be brave, faithful, and hopeful in their own lives, too. In this 4-week series, kids will learn more about what it looks like to see God as the hero of our story as they hear the story of Ruth and Naomi. They'll see how God gives them companions, opportunities, boldness, and hope so they can be heroes, too!

First Kids will still continue to accept donations through the month of November for hygiene bags that we are making for Hurricane victims. We are in need of travel size shampoo and conditioner, ChapStick, bar soap, wash cloths, and toothpaste. We have plenty of toothbrushes.  Thank you to everyone who has donated these items.

We have already been able to make 60 bags!

Important dates:

November 24: Parenting in the Pew, No First Kids

November 27: Count Your Blessings Service

If you would like to serve in the Nursery, please click the "Nursery Volunteer Sign-Up" button below. We have several spots that need to be filled in November and December.

FBCNW Youth Luminary Sale

The Youth are selling luminaries as a fundraiser to support Youth Missions. These will be on display during the Lovefeast Sun., December 8, and the evening Cantata Service, Sat., Dec. 14.

The youth will be at tables in the Narthex and Portico entrances before and after worship on Sunday, Nov. 17, 24, and Dec. 1. You may purchase luminaries in Honor or in Memory of your loved one(s).The cost is $10 per name, and the deadline for submission is December 1st.

Please make checks payable to First Baptist Church with "Luminary" in the memo line. If you are unable to purchase in person, please download this form and get it to the church office. Instructions on how to pay are also included on the form.  If you need any assistance, Patricia is happy to help you.

Thank you for your support of the youth programs and ministries as well as honoring or memorializing these special people in your lives.

Our youth just participated in the CBFNC Youth Beach Retreat where they learned to Hold On to Self,  Hold On to God, Hold On to Hope, and Hold on to Each Other with the theme verse from Hebrews 10:19-25.  Your luminary purchase helps provide these life giving and learning opportunities for their faith journey.  Ask these youth about their experience and how you can learn about these themes also in your faith journey.

We appreciate your support and encouragement for all the FBCNW youth ministry and you placing luminaries in honor or memory of the special people in your life.

Thanksgiving Blessings,

Patricia and FBCNW Youth
